Powered by 4 AA batteries. Battery life: an estimated 10,000 lock operations. Please note: It is strongly recommended that the four AA batteries be replaced once a year.

Two operational modes: Classroom (remains unlocked until lock is tapped with iButton to lock it) and Storehouse (locks upon closing).
Master key is an ordinary iButton. The master key is set by pushing a button in the lock mechanism and tapping the iButton to the lock's iButton probe.
